So, you wanna be a farmer?

Northern Piedmont Beginning Farmer Program

Twenty beginning farmers now fill the online "seats" for the Northern Piedmont Beginning Farmer Program (NPBFP).  We're three weeks into the instruction and all is going well.  The Ed Farm, Virginia Cooperative Extension, and Fauquier County's Department of Agriculture Development are conducting the first session in a 20 month program for local residents.  In September, we'll hear from the participants which ones want to 1) Act on their farm idea, 2) Postpone their farm idea, or 3) Leave farming to others.

The Education Farm is now on Youtube thanks to Virginia Farm Bureau. Watch and listen to the explanation of Virginia's ongoing efforts to link beginning farmers with retiring farmers. http://www.vabeginningfarmer.aee.vt.edu/FarmLinkYouTubeVideo.html
